Back at it Again!
Recently, we did a 10 year reunion with a group I performanced with in Chicago, RECAPITULATION. It is a musical improvisation group, and we did an online show with Improductions, LLC. We performed in August, and now we're gearing up for another show in January. January 30rd will be our next show. Additionally, I will be performing on The Grid online on December 5th. Both are free and online, so you should be able tune-in from wherever and watch the shows! Join me as I improvise and sing online.

Fall here we come!
This Fall I am directing the first show of the season. I am super excited to be doing a virtual production of THE BOOK OF WILL by Lauren Gunderson. It is a thoughtful story about the legacy of Shakespeare's words, and how those words impacted the world. I am very excited to explore this new medium, and create a virtual production with our amazing faculty, and students.
Additionally, I will be teaching Directing I this fall, and Improv II. I will periodically be sharing updates on this work, as well. Stay tuned as we create on a screen this fall!

We're still going.
In the midst of a stay-at-home order and a pandemic, we have transitioned to teaching online for the rest of the Spring. It has been hard in some ways and easy in others - too long a list either way. But we are getting by, pushing through, and keeping a positive attitude.
I asked my Improv I students in the first week, to respond to a Ted Talk about laughter. After watching it, I asked them to send my a video of themselves laughing. I edited them together, and this was our response to the reading in the form of embracing the power of laughter. I wanted to share here, in case you need a laugh... See below.

Summer, but Fall is right around the corner!
I'm enjoying the beginning of summer with all it's heat and rain. We finished The Wolves, and then had the 40-minute play festival. It featured 36 student directors, and was designed, stage-managed, and acted by our students too! It as very well attended, and the students did such a great job!
We're all ready gearing up for the fall! This year we will have a Theatre and Dance Improv Ensemble. More on that soon... Also in the Fall, I will be directing Anton in Show Business. In the Spring (March), I am thrilled to be directing A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder (if you don't know it - it is great, and a musical!).
More to come, but in the meantime, soak up the rays and enjoy summer!

Mamma Mia, and Wolves, Oh my!
Right now, Thursday - Sunday you can see many of our TAMUCC students in Mamma Mia at Harbor Playhouse. It is an exciting experience as this is a collaborative production between TAMUCC Department of Theatre and Dance and Harbor Playhouse. You can check this out through the end of March. It is a wonderful experience for our students with a 4 WEEK RUN, and it is a great production - I saw it opening night, and it is sure to get you dancing and singing along!
Also, I am in production rehearsals for THE WOLVES right now. We are so excited to have this Pulitzer Prize Finalist in our season, and it will run April 15-20 in the Wilson Theatre. It is a piece that explores young women on a soccer team, and navigating life as a young woman in America. It is a truly ensemble based piece with a cast of 10 women. If you love theatre, soccer, dramedy, or current events - this is the show for you!

Fall Semester is upon us
In just three short weeks we are back in session with our 2018 fall semester at TAMUCC! Which means - fall auditions, maybe a break in the heat, and of course, classes. I am also thrilled to announce that I will be directing a studio piece in the fall. I will be directing a small ensemble in creating a devised piece about women warriors.
Summer Camp - Awesomeness!!
Just finished teaching/directing at Camp on the Coast! Met some amazing educators, and some amazing campers. It was a jam packed 2 weeks, but it was super fun!
I'm taking a little summer time now, but gearing up for fall next!

Finals & Summer
Finals are this week! We're finishing the 40 Minute Play Festival - a student directed, designed, acted, and managed festival at TAMUCC. This summer I will teach improvisation with Camp on the Coast.
One Man, Two Guvnors OPENS THIS WEEK!!
I have been working on One Man, Two Guvnors by Richard Bean at TAMU-CC. It is a delightful modern farce adapted from A Servant of Two Masters by Carlo Goldoni. It is a wonderful mix of chaotic and organized comedy. I hope you can make it, and below check out our preview.
Semester is Over
The Fall Semester is over at TAMU-CC, but it was very successful and a lot of fun! I worked box office, taught 3 courses, collaborated with peers, met awesome colleagues and students, and cast the Spring Show I am directing (One Man, Two Guvnors). The improv group, Islander Improv, is going to Houston to compete in January, and then I start rehearsal in February. Well, for now, I go rest; Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year!!
Islander Improv - Wins Big!
I am so happy to announce that the Islander Improv Team (the improv team that I coach at TAMUCC) won the campus competition called Islander Review. They did a wonderful job and won 1st place and a monetary award! This will help us go to competition for the 11th Annual College Improv Tournament. We are super excited to head to Houston and compete in January!
Directing in the Spring & Classes have begun
We were delayed by Hurricane Harvey, and finally started classes last week. Our university president was amazing and on her first day called a delay due to weather and we started a week late. The students have been amazing, as well, volunteering to help local communities impacted in the storm. It has been inspiring seeing everyone from TAMU-CC engaged to help the community.
Currently, I am teaching Voice and Diction and Improv I. We are already having a blast, and I am the advisor to the improv club on campus. We had our first rehearsal on Saturday, and we have our first campus show on Friday.
In addition, I am happy to say I will be directing One Man, Two Guvnors in the Warren (here at TAMU-CC) in April. Auditions are a ways off, but I have an AD and we will start design meetings soon.

Ensemble Member Again
I'm back from Humana, and it was fantastic! I was able to see 5 new shows. Spring Break was great, and it was refreshing to be around new work and energetic young artists (we were there for College Weekend).
Now, I am in rehearsals as an ensemble member for the original production of Auguste: A Family Drama. I am excited for this new adventure, where I have been watching tons of clown videos and learning to juggle. I play Cupcake and Crumpet, two clowns related to a young clown named Sprinkles trying to find her way in the world. It has been a ton of fun, and I am excited to be on stage. Check out our FB page for Theatre de Hootenanny for more information: https://www.facebook.com/theatredehootenanny/
Shows will be the last two weekends in April and we will be pairing this project with The POV Project. This is the title for a new initiative that Theatre de Hootenanny is attempting with multi-media. You can purchase a live stream of the show that is FROM THE PERSPECTIVE of one of the actors on stage! Ever wonder how it feels to be on stage during a performance, or what a performance looks like from the inside out? Well, now you can experience it virtually from the actors perspective. Tickets will be on sale soon, and I will post details here and on our Facebook page.

Humana Fest
I am working as an Instructor of Theatre for A-State (Arkansas State University) and I am excited to say that I am taking a group of students to the Humana Festival of New American Plays. We are going for College Days, and we will be seeing 5 new plays and hearing a keynote address with Naomi Iizuka. I cannot wait to report back on all of the new works and the amazing Naomi Iizuka. I'll be there next weekend, soaking in all of the new play goodness!!
THEATRE DE HOOTENANNY!!
So, here is the big announcement!!!!!
Ashley Rogers and I have started our own theatre company called Theatre de Hootenanny! We're thrilled to be producing our own work, and have a Facebook Page and our website will be out next week. Our first production will be in April in Memphis, and it features the work of Kim Britt and Mario Van Hoyle. We are excited to be working with such talented artists, and we will share more - but in the meantime check out our FB page, and get ready for some serious clowning around!

New Projects
I'm excited to announce that I will be directing two shows at Crittenden Children's Theatre this spring in West Memphis, Arkansas. First, I am co-directing Peter Pan by J.M. Barry. I am excited to tackle this classic tale with co-director Ashley Rogers. Then in March I will be directing Hello, Shakespeare! This piece will be performed as a touring show for local schools with youth actors. Two very exciting productions. In addition, I will be assisting with the next Friends of George's piece, AND (if that's not enough) I will also be directing Theatre de Hootenanny's first production in Memphis - Auguste (I'll be posting more on that soon!). Busy, busy, but for now egg nog and break!
Winter is Coming...
This fall I have had the pleasure of teaching at A-State (Arkansas State University) with an incredible group of educators. I will be there until this spring continuing to teach in the Theatre Department, and work in the Costume Shop. With winter coming, a long break in the academic season will start, but it will give me some time to work on our next piece for an original project I am working on with some really fun collaborators - more on that soon. Expect an update sometime after the holidays with information and an exciting announcement. In the meantime, enjoy the extra hour and the change in weather!
So Humbled, So Thrilled
In August, I attented the Memphis Ostrander Theatre Awards. I am so thrilled and humbled to see A FLEA IN HER EAR win for Best Direction, Best Large Ensemble, Best Costume Design, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Production in our Division: College, Drama. Congrats to all - I am so proud of the talented team I was able to work with!

LAMAMA UMBRIA INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR'S SYMPOSIUM
I was in Italy at the LaMaMa Umbria International Director Symposium. It was an incredible experience where I was able to learn from teaching artists: Stephan Koplowitz (USA), Claudia Castellucci (Italy), Oh Tae-Suk (Korea), Tina Landau (USA), Kok Heng Leun (Singapore), Sergei Tcherkasski (Russia), Brett Bailey (South Africa) & Mohammad B. Ghaffari (Iran). I also met around 30 other directors from around the world that were studying there with me. The participants and instructors were amazing. We created tons of devised pieces and worked all summer learning new methods and improving techniques. I also got to know the LaMaMa staff and they are amazing - you should definitely check them out at lamama.org. Now, I'm back and getting ready for the fall. I am excited we worked so much with creation techniques, because this semester I am creating a devised piece based on some ghost stories.
